Memorial Day camping at lake Chelan

For Memorial Day this year we decided to go camping with a bunch of German friends to lake Chelan. It's always advisable to go east of the mountains for Memorial Day weekend, since the temperatures on the westside of the mountains may not be up to par with camping expectations.
the weekend started out really bad too with shit weather all the way. It was like 52 degrees and raining, so much so, that it was starting to get dark at 5 too. See the map for the drive we took:

We went through Leavenworth, the fake bavarian town in Washington. We also stopped at the Aplets and Cotlets factory in Cashmere, WA. So for those who don't know what aplets and cotlets are. They are the candy that usually only old grandmas have. Kids find them gross, and there is always plenty left over of that stuff after halloween. It's always the last stuff that gets picked. It's just not a kids' flavor, it's more of an old people's flavor.

This is us touring the factory. It's really cute, the whole factory is the size of a coffee shop. The things look pretty gross with their powder sugar covering and all.
I reluctantly went to the free sample tasting. Gross stuff. Then I bit into it. I couldn't believe the buds on my tongue. Pure heaven materialized itself in corn syrup in my mouth. A whole new world of taste is now mine. We bought some more chocolate covered pure heaven. I am now officially part of the old school old folks crew. I can't wait for Halloween and having all those aplet and cotlet leftovers.
We arrived at lake Chelan and it was raining and 51, quickly getting cold and dark. It was only 4:30 pm. So we decided to go back to the fake bavarian town of Leavenworth and stay at a hotel. We stayed at the Enzian Inn, a really cool place. It had an indoor pool so the kids loved it.
Then the amazing breakfast with a view over the mountains and the peaked roof and sunshine, we woke up to a smal bit of bavaria:

The owner of the Enzian Inn still plays the Alphorn every morning. The sun was shining and we were on our way!
On our way to Slidewaters of course! It was quickly getting hot and sunny. First open day for the place. the kids hat a blast and so did I (and Melissa must have liked the reading that she got in).

A really pretty waterpark, no crowds whatsoever, with a view over lake Chelan. We never waited more than a couple of seconds for a slide ride.

Then we headed to the campground for two days of fun camping. You can see the pics below.
I got this cool hammock. So I could nap. Sweet.
We went wandern. it was a ton of fun!
And the kids loved the sunshine and all.
Me packing up stuff.
