Roadtrip to Seattle for Christmas

Took a roadtrip to Seattle for the Port Wooden house this year. It took 2 days each way so it's a bit long, but I kind of enjoy the slow drive up there and taking in the changing scenery.

Everything went pretty well, we spent the first night in redding, ca.

We took the pass over Sikiyou where it started snowing like crazy. Got chains in Yreka, CA, had to put them on and we were checked on crossing the border to Oregon.

Then we couldn't make it out of the valley in any direction: Grants Pass: closed. Back to Yreka - closed. Via Bend and Crater Lake: snowed in. Access to the coast: snowed in.

So we stayed in this cute town called Shady Grove, in a hotel right by the river and played in the snow:

The trip then led us to through the Oregon plains to Portland and finally Seattle. On the way, we came across Brownsville to get a coffee. This town is the filming location of the movie Stand By Me, which we later found out. We got a coffee, took some pics and went on our way:

This is the road the kids walk on back to the town and where they leave the town
in the movie Stand by Me.

On the way back, there was still a bunch of snow. We stopped over in Ashland, which is just an awesome town, Eugene for the night, and finally a small stop in Shasta Mountain, which was  a dream winter wonder land.
