Camping on Eliza Island

Eliza Island is a tiny island in the San Juans, just a few miles west and south of Bellingham. It is blad shaped (sort of), and our friends from scouts own a parcel of land there. We were all invited out for the weekend and loved every second of it. The weather was fantastic, so were the sunsets.

We spent time crabbing (dungeness crabs!). I killed my first animal for survival purposes. I am now an expert in crab annihilation. I can kill, clean, remove the legs in under 10 seconds. Not much suffering there!

Here is a short vid compilation of pics:

She loves to watch me when I repair things like the motorcycle, vespas, bikes, lawn mower.

Leila:"Papa, was machst Du?"
me:"Ich repariere das Fahrrad."
Leila:"Papa muss das Fahrrad klopparieren."

I can't tell if it sounds like "klopparieren" (bang-on-it repair) or "crap-arieren" ('crap-pair' instead of 'repair'). Both sound very funny though.

Leila hat echt interessante Grammatik entwickelt. Sie uebersetzt "need" anscheinend mit "muss".

Leila:"Papa, ich muss Wasser." - Papa ich muss wasser trinken. (oder auf english: I need water).
Dann spaeter:
Leila:"Papa, ich habe gewasser." - ich habe Wasser getrunken!

Macht doch voll Sinn, oder?

Melissa:"You are so sweet and I love you Leila. Do you love your mommy?"
Leila:"I choose my best Papi!"
